Vision Rider.

Vision insurance is very important. Loss of vision is one of the reasons that people can become partially disabled. This rider helps protect the insured’s vision by allowing them to go to a vision care provider that can do yearly screenings to measure any vision loss that may be occurring. Stopping any further loss of vision is best if done proactively, and through a licensed professional providing these services.

Should a person want to take this policy with them when decide to leave a position they also can through the portability of the larger policy the vision rider is attached to. That policy is our dental policy. Being a rider is what gives this policy its affordability and easy accessibility. To file a claim (even a routine screening) simply let your care provider know which insurance company you are using. In certain cases, there are even additional savings if the wellness card is used to help cover some of the out-of-pocket costs that are associated with the vision rider.

Having portability is what really sets Colonial Life policies apart from other carriers. The ability to take a policy after leaving a position provides a level of protection to the insured during their time between, or into retirement. It is because during times of retirement a large percentage of people are on fixed incomes, and will need the guarantee that the rates will not go up, and if they do find themselves inside of age-banded policies the original rates for the bands are the rates that are going to be used when the attained age of the insured reaches a new band.

To employers who offer dental plans to their employees, the plans are offered on a pre-tax basis, and with the addition of the vision rider, the amount of FICA matching taxes will also lower when these policies are purchased as riders for the larger dental policy that they are riders too. The amount that the employees pay out of their gross pay will not be a large amount, so the vision policy will not be a significant change to the bottom line in most cases, but every penny saved is a penny earned.

To be able to offer the vision riders a dental policy must be in place for the insured, and the way that the vision rider is billed must be the same as the dental policy’s billing. If the dental policy is offered on a pre-tax basis as it is designed to be the vision rider must also be. The way that spouses and dependent children are added too the policy must also match it’s billing. There are complete packages that are available for what is known as two-parent-families which will cover the employee, the spouse, and the children. These complete packages are usually a tiny amount more costly than just an employee, but the amount of coverage that is available to the entire family cannot have a price tag attached to it.
